BIOGRAPHY: Paul Pierpaoli is Senior Vice President, Pharmacy Practice, for McKesson Medication Management. Prior to joining MedManagement in 1998, he served as Director of Pharmacy, Rush-Presbyterian-St Luke's Medical Center in Chicago from 1984 through 1998. He also held the faculty rank of Assistant Professor, Health Systems Management at Rush University and Professor of Pharmacology, Rush University College of Medicine.
Thoughout his 30-plus year career, Paul has been actively involved in teaching and pharmacy management. He is a native of Rhode Island, having received his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island. He subsequently received a Master's Degree and completed a residency in hospital pharmacy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He is the author of a number of articles, book chapters and monographs in the pharmacy, medical, and health care administration literature.
Paul has long been active in state, regional and national organizations within the profession, having served as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and President from 1984-85. He has also served as a member of the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties and is the recipient of the Harvey A. K. Whitney Lecture Award, hospital pharmacy's highest honor.
